Happy Easter!

John 20:1-18
Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.) Then the disciples went back to where they were staying. Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”). Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

Parker's first Easter Sunday was so full. Church, baskets, egg hunts, lunch with the whole family and Grandaddy's birthday celebration! It was a great day!

San Antonio: Day 3

On the last morning of our trip we started the day off right with Shipley's donuts and Parker got to try his first donut hole. We're pretty sure he liked it! ;)

Then it was off to the Alamo...

where P was more interested in walking around then looking at the historical documents and letters on display.
After the Alamo we packed up the car and headed to Texas Hill Country. Our first stop was Fredericksburg.
German pioneers settled the area so naturally we had lunch at a biergarten. We sat outside and listened to the live music while Parker practiced his clapping. :)
After lunch and a walk down Main Street, we were on our way to Luckenbach, Texas. (Yes, we listened to the song.) Luckenbach, located down a dirt road, is apparently quite the hangout for bikers (as in motorcycles).
Our final stop of the day was Gruene. Despite the ridiculous crowd (which we were not expecting) it lived up to its reputation as charming. We did a little window shopping and had dinner at the Gristmill. There was about a 45 minute wait so we hung out in the grassy area next to the restaurant where they have picnic tables and a guy playing the guitar.
The way they do it is when your table is ready, your name is written on a massive chalkboard. We had 2 1/2 in our party. :)
When we left Gruene we went straight to the hotel. We made it in time to see the sun set.
Unfortunately, we didn't have a very pleasant stay. Sleepy babies (and parents!), a false fire alarm in the middle of the night, and an early flight don't mix. We said goodbye to Hill Country first thing the next morning.
And said goodbye to San Antonio.
When we made it to Nashville, we were all happy to be home! (But not happy to leave the warm temperatures behind!)
Is it obvious that someone had just woken up from a long nap in the above photo? :)

San Antonio: Day 2

We started Day 2 with breakfast at The Guenther House and a drive through the King William Historic District.
Then we headed back to the Riverwalk. Clearly, Parker was thrilled with our plan.

Cutest cowboy in Texas!
Hemisfair Park
Menger Hotel
We had lunch at Mi Tierra where P had  his first taste of refried beans.
He liked the mariachi band better.
After lunch we walked around Market Square. Parker finally took a little nap on the go although I have no idea how since the Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair was in full swing.
We had dinner at Acenar. It was so good!
And we ended the day back at the hotel hanging out on the balcony overlooking the Riverwalk.
