Photo Friday

There is ALWAYS a house project to be done. Last Saturday the guys tackled our willow tree. Thankfully, they accomplished their task with no injuries to themselves or the neighbor's fence!

Yummmmy

Everyone, do yourselves a favor and cook roasted pork tenderloin with grilled peach salsa. Best meal ever!

*Disclaimer: I didn't follow the grilled peach salsa recipe exactly (ie: no orange rind or habanero pepper because I didn't have them).

In anticipation of THIS weekend, here's what we did LAST weekend:

Last Friday Keith and I celebrated all of our good news with Joey and Lauren with dinner at Ru Sans (sushi) and dancing downtown...Saturday we spent the morning in Leiper's Fork with Will & Ann Claire and Jonathan & Jennifer. You can't beat breakfast at Puckett's and browsing antique stores on a beautiful day.
Saturday night Keith cooked (or more appropriately, grilled) me a congratulatory dinner. Salmon, mushroom risotto, asparagus, a fresh tomato, and bread. YUM!

Happy Birthday, Gramps!

Today is Gramps' birthday!! Below are some of my favorite memories of him accompanied by pictures of course.
Gramps played the piano daily. He never had lessons, but he picked up the hymnal everyday, flipping through and playing a different medley. That piano brings back so many memories of him sitting there singing along as he played. I love having it in our house now!

Every evening Memi would water the flowers in the yard. After she passed away Gramps took over the duty and performed it diligently. Unfortunately, they did not pass along their green thumbs to me. After dinner my grandparents would go to the very back of the yard and sit in the swing together with their coffee. It was their time to reflect on the day and be together. What a sweet ritual! I am so thankful for such a wonderful role model, leader, and grandfather! Happy Birthday Gramps! I love you!

Blessed

Keith and I are so blessed. Over the past couple of weeks we've realized this more and more. Our most recent blessings include:
  • I'm employed! After my clerkship I will be joining a firm as an associate. I don't just have any job though- I landed my ideal position in terms of work, environment, and location! I'll be doing insurance defense work in a firm that focuses on relationships in an office in Brentwood. I'm in the same building as Ann Claire and 2 buildings from Keith.
  • No more travel for Keith! His boss delivered the good news in a very nonchalant manner, but it's a big deal to us! It has been so great being able to do the things most couples take for granted like eating dinner together, taking family walks, and running errands on a weeknight.

We have the greatest family who have been so supportive of us and the best friends that have been ready to celebrate with us!

Last Friday Keith and I went to the Full Moon Pickin Party. There's a main stage with a band and all around the park people gather with their pickin instruments in small groups and play. Such a different, fun, lowkey thing to do on a Friday night.

Family, Friends, Fun, and The Fourth

We had a busy and fun holiday weekend. Keith's Grandma, PapPap, Aunt Becky, and her daughter Natalie were in town for a conference at Lipscomb. We met them at campus Friday night for some dinner and catching up.
Saturday we gave the grand tour of our now furnished home. The last time everyone was in town was the weekend of our wedding and our house was far from complete. When we got to the office/music room, Natalie and Jan gave a little performance.
After family left Keith and I checked out the River Rest activities. A firetruck from the volunteer station just around the corner led a parade of children and dogs to the clubhouse where the firemen then doused the crowd with the fire hose. We stuck around long enough to enjoy the chaos, but headed out before getting wet.
Our next stop was Icon in downtown Nashville. Joey had a cookout at the rooftop pool and we enjoyed lounging in the sun for a few hours. Saturday night we went to Will and Ann Claire's new house in Green Hills for another cookout. She hasn't had a lot of time to get everything in place, but it is so cute already!

This Fourth of July was full of family, friends, food, and sun... and we enjoyed every minute of it!

Happy 4th!

Happy Fourth of July weekend!!
Keith and I are planning to attend at least 3 cookouts, get some sun, watch some fireworks, and enjoy our Friday together with no work! *Darcy's July 4th visor is MIA so she's wearing her red bandana instead.
