The Little Things
It's the little things, like when
* I explain something to Parker and he goes "Ohhhh!"
* I lift him out of his crib when he wakes up in the morning- at 5:30am mind you- and he squeals "go!" the second his feet touch the floor (true story).
* he runs through the house yelling "shew weeee!"
* he gives bear hugs out of nowhere. He used to say, "mmm mmm mmm" every time.
* he hears a nail gun, hammering, or other loud tool and immediately points and says, "Dada!"
* I ask him to say "thank you" and instead I get a very sincere head nod.
* he says please or sorry while doing signs he made up. (For please he rubs his hands up and down against his chest/belly and for sorry he holds his hand almost in a fist up to his cheek/ear.)
* he sticks his neck out to mimic a giraffe and beats his fists on his chest like a gorilla.
* he has tan lines on his feet from his sandals and around his neck from his t-shirt.
* he gets to go to big church (instead of the nursery), hears a baby cry, and says "shhh!" with his finger to his lips.
* he brings me book after book and wants to "read."
* he says "melon" (he sticks out his tongue a lot in the process), "orange" (I've got to get this on video! It's very raspy with extra emphasis on the "o") and "fruit" ("oot").
* he insists on a bubble bath and then dunks his ducks into the bubbles, holds them up all covered, and says, "whoa!"
* he lines up his plasma car, wagon, trike, and M&D chomp and clack in a neat little row. And then moves them one by one to another room and lines them up again.
* he proudly holds up one finger on each hand and exclaims "TWO!" when you ask him how old he is.
* you ask him what color something is and he says "blue!" no matter the actual color.
* and the list goes on...

Happy (day after) Cinco de Mayo!
*Update: Today, May 7, I heard Parker squealing when I was in the back of the house. I walked into the living room to find him wearing this sombrero yelling "party!"
*Update 2: Last night, May 8, while making dinner I again heard Parker saying "party!" I turned around to this
What can I say? The boy is a fan of sombreros!

April Bump Update
6 months down, 3 months to go! If how the last month has gone is any indication, it's going to be a long (hot) 3 months. I've started feeling uncomfortable most of the time. I have very little to wear already. My belly is always in the way, which makes getting Parker dressed, picking up a dropped pen, or scooting up to the dinner table all annoying. I've been extra klutzy, breaking a vase at my aunt and uncle's house and a bowl full of cereal at home. I haven't been sleeping that well (plus Parker's an early riser- not a good combo). I've had some back pain radiating down into my right leg to my knee, but it thankfully hasn't been constant. I'm just trying to stay hydrated and count my many blessings- a healthy Baby Girl (to be named) on the way, a supportive husband, and a precious little two year old boy who I just know will be a big help. I'm also really hoping that despite all of the sweets I've been eating I'll manage to pass the glucose test at my next appointment on May 7.
