San Antonio: Day 2

We started Day 2 with breakfast at The Guenther House and a drive through the King William Historic District.
Then we headed back to the Riverwalk. Clearly, Parker was thrilled with our plan.

Cutest cowboy in Texas!
Hemisfair Park
Menger Hotel
We had lunch at Mi Tierra where P had  his first taste of refried beans.
He liked the mariachi band better.
After lunch we walked around Market Square. Parker finally took a little nap on the go although I have no idea how since the Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair was in full swing.
We had dinner at Acenar. It was so good!
And we ended the day back at the hotel hanging out on the balcony overlooking the Riverwalk.

San Antonio: Day One

Keith took Parker and me to San Antonio for a long weekend as an early birthday present to me. It came at the perfect time. We were both burned out on work and over Nashville weather. Four days of 85 degree sunny weather, lots of guacamole, and a little sightseeing = Perfection!

Day One:

We could not have asked for a better little traveler.
Boudro's empanada langosta- amazing.
Someone had to take a quick afternoon nap.
Cool dude.
I love these photos of P while we were waiting on the river boat tour.
Strolling on the Riverwalk pre-dinner.

11 months!

My baby is almost one! I am in complete shock that time has passed so quickly. Slow down, time!

For our monthly photo shoot I just had to snap what I could get since someone doesn't like sitting in one place for too long...

Parker,
At 10 months old you really added a lot of foods to your "likes" list. You're eating pears, peaches, carrots, butternut squash ravioli, yellow squash, mushrooms, corn, green peas, and mashed red potatoes with butter and garlic. You LOVE bread, just like your Daddy. You've tasted cinnamon rolls and a donut hole, both of which you approved. You've also tried lasagna, refried beans and spinach, but you weren't a fan of any of those foods. Two of your top teeth popped through at the beginning of your 10th month. As far as play, you're loving hide and seek, opening and closing things over and over (doors, cabinets, books, baby laptop), and banging your dresser drawer pulls. You've discovered shadows and it is so cute to watch you. You are making a noise that sounds a lot like "doodle" with your tongue. You still haven't said "mama". You squeal and flail your arms when you get excited, which is usually when you see Darcy or when your Daddy gets home from work. You may look like your Daddy, but you furrow your brow and you're stubborn, both Mommy traits. You want to be standing constantly, even when you're drinking a bottle. You have decided that you despise your carseat and it is a nightmare sometimes getting you buckled into it. I think it's time for an upgrade ASAP! You went on your first flight and were an amazing little traveler. You are laughing a ton and are so ticklish. We love it!! The biggest news from this month though is that you finally started sleeping through the night! We decided to try the "Cry It Out" method even though we'd experimented with it a little before and it didn't work. This time, on the first night you woke up after about 4 hours and stayed awake for 45 minutes, alternating between sitting quietly with your lovey and blanket and standing and crying. Then you went back to sleep. You woke up again about 3 hours later and whimpered a little bit before falling back to sleep. You woke up for the morning at 6:05- 11.5 hours after you went to bed! The next night you slept 11 hours with no crying or standing! We are so proud and excited about getting a little more rest from here on out!

Happy St. Patty's Day

from my festive little Irishman!
Sporting his green pants
and eating his green peas
We had a busy day of traveling and getting organized for the week after we got home from a great vacation, but Parker was sure to wear his green so he wouldn't get pinched!

Close ups

Keith gave me a new camera lens for Christmas. It is a portrait lens and when you get everything right the pictures are awesome. Actually getting it right is a lot of work though. I've been practicing lately on a pretty cute 10 month old I happen to know. ;) Here are some hits and misses (the misses are on my end, but my model is super precious no matter what)!
Don't let that nonchalant look fool you- Parker man loves some waffles.
This one cracks me up!

Of these next ones I can't decide which one I like most!

We've adding brushing teeth to the bedtime routine. He's a fan.

A Year of Date Nights

So, that title is kind of deceiving. It has more accurately been 10 months of dates, both night and day. Two months after Parker was born Keith and I went on our first "post baby" date. It was my birthday so we went to Red Pony, my usual/favorite birthday dinner spot. That night we decided that it would be good for us to get out once a month without Parker and really just spend time with one another. Parker's Mimi and Grandaddy (Keith's parents) have been awesome in really making sure this happens. So, for memory's sake, here are our dates, some more glamorous than others:

June: Dinner at Red Pony

Pre birthday dinner (immediately post shower for Keith, ha!) photo with our sweet 2 month old
July: Dinner at Kayne Prime. We had SUCH an amazing meal. A pretty major celebrity sighting (ever heard of Nicole Kidman or Keith Urban?) was fun too (for Keith at least). More HERE.
August: Meatloaf concert at the Ryman! Keith was such a trooper and agreed to go with me to the concert. In the end, he had a pretty good time too. ;) More HERE.
September: Two anniversary lunches- The Southern and Table 3. So Yummy! Can you tell we like to eat? :)
October: Dinner at Porta Via. Get the Lobster Ravioli!
November: Small Business Saturday shopping afternoon in downtown Franklin. I loved this day. We got to stroll Main Street and do a little Christmas shopping, mainly for P of course!
December: Movie date to see Skyfall- Keith's pick, but I really liked it too!
January: Whole Foods cooking class. We'd done this before and had been looking for awhile for another class that looked interesting and tasty and that worked with our schedule. Finally we decided on the Barcelona inspired class. It was worth the wait!
February: We had 2 dates! A movie date to see Argo (we thought it was fantastic) and dinner at 360 Bistro (I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed my meal).
March: This Saturday night we're going to Etch (a Deb Paquette restaurant- I'm so excited to try it!) and to see Randy Travis at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Can't wait!

Don't worry, we have gotten out of the house more than this! Usually though, Parker man is in tow or we're meeting friends. It was so good to have time on these dates, just Keith and me, to reconnect and recharge even though we were always so ready to get home to our baby!

Joyful Noise

Parker loves making noise.
Typical boy.
One of his favorite instruments is my ceramic garden stool.
Hilarious!
