Eden: 7 Months!

Oh Eden. We love her to death, but if she'd been first she would be an only child. Ok, so maybe that's a little dramatic, but girl is high maintenance. She's super attached to mama and she sleeps very little. At night she's generally on a 2-3 hour rotation and it is super hit or miss on naps. But how sweet it is when she does.
What she lacks in the sleep department, she makes up for in eating. She's not one to skip a meal, and she's taken right to adding solids to her diet. I've tried to make some of her food, but other than my butternut squash she'd rather have a pouch. Her favorites are sweet potatoes and carrots. She prefers veggies over fruits. But so far she'll eat anything but avocado. She ate it at first, but after expanding her palate she's decided there are things better than avocado, I guess. Is this girl who doesn't sleep and doesn't love avocado really mine?! ;)
She's becoming pretty vocal, just making noises, squealing, and grunting mostly, but I'm officially counting "mama" as her first word!
She likes to:
* Stick out her tongue
* Eat her feet
* Bounce when sitting and with her legs when being held
* "Read" books
* Look out the window
* Pull Parker's hair
* Play peek-a-boo
* Reach for things. She's so grabby!
* Play with her toys, especially balls, blocks, and teethers.
Happy 7 Months (late again), Edie Bug!

Be Mine

Happy Valentine's Weekend from our littlest love!
We hope your Valentine's Day was filled with your favorites- in our case food! Starting the day with a Biscuit Love breakfast and ending with a Flip Burger dinner made for some happy Valentines at our house. Food should be a love language. ;)

Parker Update

Parker talks ALL.THE.TIME. Loudly. I'm constantly having to remind him to use his inside voice. And when he's really emphasizing something he'll hold up his little pointer finger. He's getting a lot better with his pronouns although I still hear a lot of  "That train's yours and this train's me's (instead of mine)!" He loves to narrate what he's doing or what's going on. Some other things he says:
Yeah!
Op (open)
Actually or maybe at the beginning of every other sentence
cotch-clet (chocolate)
Conskin (Wisconsin- where Keith is working lately)
Pomas (Thomas the train)
It's gonna be fuuun!
I'm gonna be excited!
Come on!
Hey Cheese! (This is what he calls people. I have no idea?!)

Some things that come out of Parker's mouth are brutally honest. Like when he looked at my forehead and exclaimed, "bumpy road!" or when out of the blue he told me, "You look tired!" Ha, awesome!

He's pretty funny too. For Christmas he got a remote control Lightening McQueen car, a pair of bear slippers, and a vacuum cleaner (among other things). I almost died when one day he said, "I want to put on my bear shoes, get my vacuum, and chase Lightening McQueen!"

He doesn't just talk. We're actually having conversations and he's comprehending things and coming up with his own answers. He has his own thoughts and ideas although he, in true toddler fashion, can be super indecisive. He wants pasta; he doesn't want pasta. He wants Eden to look at him; he doesn't want Eden to look at him. And on and on.

He loves to count and say his ABCs. When he sees the letter "P" he always says, "That's me!"

His favorite food is Taziki's Friday Pasta. His favorite toy is anything with wheels. Trains seem to be favored more than cars lately. His favorite book is still a collection of Curious George stories although he really likes the latest Dolly Parton's Imagination Library book Truck Stop.

He's obsessed with tents. And the "wash car" (car wash). Keith took him to the car wash next to Home Depot recently, but it was closed for maintenance. I must have heard 200 times after that that the wash car at the Depot was broken and maybe somebody will fix it one day. Because everything in the future is "one day" and everything in the past was "yesterday."

He gets breakfast, lunch, and dinner mixed up so he often wants dinner for breakfast or breakfast for lunch, etc. And on the subject of food, here's a hilariously gross story. One night well after dinner Keith saw Parker chewing and heard him say, "Mmm, chicken!"

He still LOVES school. He's made friends and is really learning a lot and not just shapes, colors, etc. One day at home he was not being a good listener and got into trouble. He said, "That wasn't a good choice!" I'm guessing they must talk about making good choices at school because I've never used that language specifically. I love it!

Oh, and he has a crush on a girl in his class at school. I found out when I was explaining Valentine's Day to him and made the mistake of asking who he loved. He did not say "Mommy" like I expected. Too cute or too soon?! ;)

We had to switch on the child proof lock on his door recently. I was driving down the road (thankfully in our neighborhood!) when he OPENED HIS DOOR! Scared me to death!

Wade (his giraffe lovey) has morphed into "Wave" or "Waif".

My favorite time of day with Parker is at night after Eden is bed. We play, cuddle, read, and say prayers- just us two. Love my boy so much!

Happy Half Birthday, Eden!

6 months!!!
Eden, you are...
* such a ham when the camera comes out!
* in love with your brother. You watch his every move and are constantly laughing at him. You love to pull his hair and luckily he's ok with that. ;)
* fascinated with your toes.
* sitting up solo.
* sleeping in about 3 hour increments during the night. I'll get up and feed you and 99% of the time you go right back to sleep. There have been a few occasions where you haven't and on those nights I'm very tempted to have you cry it out, but then you go back to your norm and I drop the idea. During the day you've been much better about napping on your own recently. Until a week or so ago you napped while being held, but now we're on a streak of at least one nap in the crib a day. I'll take it!
* back on your bottle strike.
* eating solids! So far you've had avocado and banana and have been a fan of both. We're going to back off the banana until your 6th month pediatrician visit (late again, oops) because there's a possibility you have an allergy although Google says banana allergies are rare. You have broken out into a rash around your mouth after eating it though, which is exactly what Parker did when eating eggs.
* finally well! You had your first cold, first ear infection (double!), and first stomach bug in December. You ran a fever and threw up every day all day for a week. Parker and Daddy also had ear infections at the same time so the Cronins were a pitiful crew for a bit.
* growing hair, slowly but surely. I'm not sure yet if it will be as blonde as Parker's or if it will be curly.
* making raspberry sounds with your mouth (which Darcy isn't crazy about).
* putting everything in your mouth.
* officially rolling over. You prefer to roll tummy to back. You can roll back to tummy, but you usually stop on your side and grab your toes.
* a lovey fan. Just like big brother.
